Turn any place and date into a one-of-a-kind generative painting, shaped by the real position of the sun
A birthday in Paris. A wedding day in Kyoto. The morning your daughter was born. Enter a city and date. SOL does the rest.
Create Your SunriseTurn your favorite sunrise into a physical piece. Premium giclée prints on archival paper, crafted to last generations.
SOL is generative art rooted in real-world data. Every piece begins with a precise astronomical calculation: the exact altitude and azimuth of the sun for a given city, date, and time of sunrise. That data seeds a generative algorithm inspired by impressionism, pointillism, and surrealism to produce a composition that could never exist for any other moment.
The result is artwork that captures something fleeting (a sunrise that will never happen again) and makes it permanent.
Tokyo, Reykjavik, Buenos Aires. Search any city on the planet.
An anniversary, a birthday, a random Tuesday. Any date, past or future.
SOL calculates the sun's exact position and creates a unique painting from that data.
Save every sunrise you create to a personal gallery. Generate as many as you like; each one belongs to you. Revisit your favorites, compare cities and seasons, or simply collect the moments that matter most.
SOL was created by generative artist Cory Haber as a way to connect code, nature, and personal meaning. Inspired by Andy Warhol's Sunset series (632 screen prints of the same composition with only the colors changed), SOL asks a similar question: how much beauty can emerge from a single subject when the variables shift?
The project began as 365 unique pieces, one for every day of the year, each tied to a different city around the world. It has since grown into an open platform where anyone can generate a sunrise for any place and date they choose.
